Dream Bean Coffee

May 2023, that's when Ollie and Rique jointly decided to build a beach-loving, coffee community.

Ollie already ran Salt Spray Surf School, Rique was a trained barista, and both are coffee lovers, the idea of a coffee-truck felt inevitable.
The search didn't take long. Within days, a Suzuki Carry popped up on TradeMe and was about to be shipped off to Christchurch. We got there first. That little coffee-truck became Dream Bean.
We launched that September at West End, Ōhope, running alongside Salt Spray Surf School. From day one we began building a community of surfers, sunrise walkers, have memorized the orders of our locals and treat visitors to a taste of Ōhope. Our coffee attracting a loyal crowd who keep coming back to the beachside coffee-truck.
After two years of beach brewing we looked for the next step: taking control of every part of our coffee, from bean to cup. A roaster landed in Ollie's parents' garage, and the roasting began.
Hundreds of roasts later, our Signature Dream Bean Blend is out in the world, praised by coffee lovers and flying off the shelf.
